Nightshade Vegetables

The following list of vegetables are things I either can or cannot eat. Just because I react to them does not mean that you will. Also, please read everything store bought. If it says spices or natural flavorings avoid it at all costs.

Nightshade Vegetables (Solanaceae family)

  • Tomatoes: Rash
  • Potatoes: Severe stomach cramps.
  • ALL peppers: Throat swells shut.
  • Bell pepper: These are part of all peppers, too! Severe stomach cramps.
  • Eggplant: Haven't eaten since diagnosis.
  • Tomatillos: Haven't eaten since diagnosis.

Vegetables with Solanine (Some bother me, and some don't)

  • Blueberries: Don't bother me.
  • Apples: Don't bother me.
  • Cherries: Don't bother me at all.
  • Sugar beets: I use these for a tomato substitute, but don't eat all the time.
  • Huckleberries: Give me severe headaches. Found this out after Buffalo Wild Wing Lemonade.
  • Okra: Haven't eaten since diagnosis.
  • Artichoke: Haven't eaten since diagnosis.

Spices I have to avoid:

  • Paprika
  • Chinese Five Spice
  • Star Anise
  • Allspice
  • Season salt
Miscellaneous:

  • Coca-Cola
  • Dr. Pepper
